Oct 31 – Pizza and Game Night

Pizza and Game Night – On Tuesday, October 31, we will offer an alternative to Halloween and trick-or-treating from 5:45pm – 8:30pm.  You are welcome to join us for food and fellowship at the church.  This is a casual event with no costumes.  Doors will open at 5:45pm and pizza will be served at 6:00pm.  Please bring a SNACK (veggie, fruit, chips, etc.) to share and a board game or two to share.  (Make sure your game is labeled with your name.)  Please sign up on the bulletin board so we know how much pizza to order.  Plan to bring games that your children and their friends enjoy as well as games for teens/adults.  Children will be expected to remain indoors for the entire evening and be supervised by their parents at all times.

Oct 30 – Church Volunteer Training

Church Volunteer Training – Several years ago, the PA state Legislature passed Act 153 in response to the abuse scandal at Penn State University.  The session spent a great deal of time carefully considering what our church should do to respond biblically to the new law.  The most visible step has been the requirement that all volunteers who work with children in the church obtain their child abuse clearance and their criminal background check.  It is important for our volunteers to understand their obligations under the law and to understand the official position of the church in response to the law.  To that end, the session is holding a training session on Monday, October 30th at 7:00 P.M. at the church.  The session will be taped and subsequently made available for volunteers to watch at their convenience.  Face to face interaction is always preferred, so all volunteers who work with children are particularly encouraged to attend.  Every member of the congregation would benefit by understanding both our obligation to the state and the church’s position toward the law.  The session recognizes that our lives are incredibly busy and we have no desire to add “another meeting” to you lives, but we are also seeking to be submissive to the civil magistrate.  Please help us in that mission by joining us for this training session.  We anticipate the session lasting about 45 minutes.

Oct 23 – 40 Days for Life

40 Days For Life – Please consider joining other RPCNH members in a peaceful prayer vigil outside the abortion clinic on Liberty Ave. on the morning of Monday, October 23rd from 7am to 11am.

Charles H. is coordinating this event.  Please contact him nwith questions, to sign up, or if you would like to carpool.  Please bring a Psalter if you attend.

Notes:  You do not have to come for all four hours, and are also more than welcome simply to stop by and join us.  40 Days for Life is set up as a prayer vigil, intended to reflect the love of Christ both for the unborn and for those whose lives have already been impacted by abortion. You are allowed to engage politely with those walking past, but are not required to, and many participants simply hold signs, pray, sing, and have fellowship with other protesters.  All you need to bring is yourself, appropriate clothing for standing outside for awhile, and perhaps your psalter.

You need not have a child in the youth group in order to host, and it is a great way to get to know the youth of the church! Hosts usually provide some portion of the dinner and ask the youth to bring the rest. Pastor Metzger handles the teaching time.
